Maximizing Online Sessions

Online lessons can be AWESOME.

Learning from the comfort of home. Not having to fight traffic to get to a studio. Having a video recording of every single lesson. Here are some things you can do to maximize your online lesson experience:

  • Be in a space with an internet connection that is as consistent and fast as possible. Running an ethernet cable from your modem is ideal for a laptop, but wifi is great, too.

  • If you’re on wifi, the closer you are to your router, the stronger your signal will be.

  • Ask other members of the household to hold off on using the internet during your lesson, if possible, especially if they are running high-bandwidth things like video (YouTube, Netflix, video games, etc.).

  • Ahead of time, download and update the Zoom app onto whatever device you want to use.

  • It’s usually best to have one device to run Zoom (most clients prefer their laptop so they can screen share more easily), and another device to play recordings to sing with (most clients prefer their phone or tablet).

  • You’ll be just fine with the mic and speakers that are already built into your device. Some people like an external mic and headphones, but they’re not necessary. You can experiment and see what works best for you.
